Generator Automation
Auto-start, auto-stop, scheduled exercise runs, fault protection, remote monitoring. Subtech generator automation panels for 5 kVA to 2000 kVA gensets.
An AMF panel starts the DG when the grid fails and stops it when the grid returns. Generator automation goes further: it controls the DG as a standalone power source, manages scheduled exercise runs, logs runtime and fuel consumption, and enables remote monitoring via GSM or Ethernet.
Generator Automation vs AMF Panel: What Is the Difference?
An AMF panel has one job: detect grid failure, start the DG, transfer load, and reverse the sequence when the grid returns.
Generator automation is about managing the DG itself, as the primary power source, not just a backup. A generator automation panel controls the DG in sites where there is no grid to fail back to: off-grid villages, construction sites, telecom towers on remote hilltops.
Generator automation panels handle: manual and automatic DG start/stop, scheduled exercise runs, engine protection, load management during DG operation, runtime logging, parallel operation of two or more DGs, and remote monitoring via GSM or Ethernet.
Subtech has been a Honda Power Products partner since 2007. We build generator automation panels for Honda EU30iS and EU65iS petrol gensets, as well as for diesel gensets from 5 kVA to 2000 kVA using Deep Sea Electronics and ComAp InteliGen controllers.
Why this matters for your facility
Auto-Start Without an Operator.
The panel starts the DG automatically at the scheduled time, on a remote command, or when the load demands it. No key turn, no human on-site.
Exercise Runs Prevent Seizure.
The automation panel runs the DG on a weekly exercise schedule, typically 30 minutes under load, keeping everything in working order for when it is actually needed.
Engine Protection: Low Oil, High Temp, Overspeed.
Low oil pressure, high coolant temperature, overspeed, and under-frequency shutdowns are standard.
Parallel Operation of Multiple DGs.
Two or more DGs can be synchronised and paralleled by the automation panel.
Remote Monitoring via GSM / Ethernet / SNMP.
Deep Sea and ComAp controllers provide real-time DG status, fault history, runtime hours, and fuel consumption.
Preventive Maintenance Scheduling.
The controller tracks engine runtime hours and alerts when oil change, filter replacement, and battery check intervals are due.
Where Subtech panels are deployed
Telecom Tower Diesel Generators
An unattended telecom tower DG must auto-start when battery voltage drops, run until recharged, and report all events to the NOC.
Remote Village Microgrid
Off-grid village electrification schemes use a diesel DG as the prime power source.
Construction Site Prime Power
Construction sites without grid connection run the entire site on DG.
Hospital Backup with Synchronised DG Pair
A hospital with N+1 DG redundancy needs the standby DG to synchronise with and take over from the duty DG without any load interruption.
Honda EU30iS Petrol Genset for Small Off-Grid Use
As a Honda Power Products partner since 2007, Subtech builds automation panels specifically for the Honda EU30iS and EU65iS petrol gensets.
Solar-DG Hybrid for Agricultural Pumping
Agricultural solar-DG hybrid systems use the DG as backup when solar is insufficient.
Generator Automation Panel Variants
All variants built around Deep Sea Electronics or ComAp controllers.
Petrol DG Auto-Start Panel
Remote start and stop, runtime logging, low-fuel alert. Subtech is a Honda Power Products partner since 2007.
